A well-planned CCTV installation starts with understanding the site. Before accepting a quotation, make sure the camera positions, recorder, storage and cable route have been discussed.
Ask these questions
- Which entrances, rooms, parking areas or corridors need coverage?
- Are HD analogue cameras or IP cameras better for the site?
- How many recorder channels will be needed, including possible future expansion?
- How many days of recording are required, and what storage is proposed?
- Will cables be visible or routed through conduit/false ceilings?
- Will remote viewing be configured on the customer’s phone?
- What is included in the quotation and what is charged separately?
Check brands and compatibility
Brands such as Hikvision, CP Plus and Dahua offer different product ranges. The exact model, resolution, recorder compatibility and warranty terms should be written in the quotation. Brand names alone do not guarantee a feature or compatibility.
Confirm the handover
After installation, ask for a demonstration of live view, playback, date/time settings and authorised mobile access. Keep the invoice, warranty documents and basic system details in a safe place.
